Apolipoprotein A-2 (Apo A-2) is the second most abundant protein in HDL ("good") cholesterol, after Apo A-1. It plays a role in lipid metabolism and in maintaining the structure and stability of HDL particles, and is involved in regulating the enzymes that process fats in the blood. Its exact clinical significance is less well established than Apo A-1, but it may offer additional insight into HDL function and cardiovascular risk, and altered levels have been linked to conditions affecting lipid metabolism.
