Apolipoprotein E (Apo E) is a protein involved in the transport and clearance of cholesterol and other fats from the bloodstream. It helps carry lipid particles to the liver, where they are processed and removed, playing an important role in maintaining healthy cholesterol levels. Measuring the level of Apo E in the blood offers insight into how efficiently the body handles fats, and altered levels can be associated with disturbances in lipid metabolism and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
