EPP (Exposure Prone Procedure) Check with IVS

This check is designed for healthcare workers and others who need to be cleared for exposure prone procedures (EPPs). These are procedures where there is a risk that a worker's blood could come into contact with a patient's open tissues, so workers must be shown to be free from certain bloodborne viruses before carrying them out. This test screens for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV in a single blood sample, and is carried out with identified validated sampling (IVS).

What this check includes

• Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg): detects current hepatitis B infection
• Hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs): shows immunity to hepatitis B, for example from vaccination, and confirms your level of protection
• Hepatitis C antibody (anti-HCV): screens for hepatitis C infection
• HIV antibody and antigen (anti-HIV and HIV antigen): a combined test that screens for HIV, detecting both the body's response to the virus and the virus itself for earlier and more reliable detection

What identified validated sampling (IVS) means

For an exposure prone procedure clearance, the identity of the person being tested must be formally verified at the time the sample is taken. Identified validated sampling means your identity is confirmed with photographic identification and the sample is documented accordingly, so the result meets the standards required for occupational health and professional registration purposes. Because of this, the sample must be taken in person under the correct verified conditions.
