H. pylori Stool Antigen Test (Helicobacter pylori)
Confirm active H. pylori infection and protect your stomach health.
The Helicobacter pylori Antigen Test (HPAG) is a non-invasive stool test used to detect active infection with Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium that colonises the stomach lining and is a leading cause of peptic ulcers, chronic gastritis, and gastric cancer. It is suitable for adults and children presenting with persistent indigestion, upper abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, or unexplained iron deficiency anaemia, as well as for confirming eradication after treatment. The test uses an immunoassay to detect H. pylori antigens shed in the stool, providing a reliable indication of current infection rather than past exposure.
What it screens for
- Helicobacter pylori antigen (H. pylori Ag): Detects the presence of H. pylori bacterial proteins in a stool sample, indicating an active infection in the gastrointestinal tract.
Why it matters
Identifying active H. pylori infection allows timely treatment with targeted antibiotics and acid suppression, which can resolve symptoms, heal ulcers, and significantly reduce the risk of serious gastric complications including gastric cancer. The stool antigen test is also a recommended tool for post-treatment check to confirm successful eradication.

For blood tests, we recommend drinking plenty of water beforehand to ensure smooth sample collection. If you are taking any regular medication, continue to do so unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
