This test uses polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to detect the genetic material of eight sexually transmitted and genital pathogens from a single sample. PCR is highly sensitive and specific, meaning it can identify an infection even when bacterial or viral levels are very low, often before symptoms appear. It is suitable for anyone experiencing symptoms such as unusual discharge, burning on urination, pelvic or testicular discomfort, genital sores or lesions, or for those who have had a potential exposure and want a comprehensive check. It is also used for routine sexual health screening and for confirming clearance after treatment.

Why it matters
Many sexually transmitted infections are asymptomatic, meaning you can carry and transmit them without knowing. Untreated infections can lead to serious complications including pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, chronic pelvic pain, epididymitis, and increased risk of HIV acquisition. Identifying the exact pathogen, rather than guessing, allows your doctor to prescribe the correct targeted treatment, avoid unnecessary antibiotics, and prevent onward transmission to partners. Early detection and accurate diagnosis are the cornerstone of effective sexual health management.

No special preparation required.
For blood tests, we recommend drinking plenty of water beforehand to ensure smooth sample collection. If you are taking any regular medication, continue to do so unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
