Varicella Immunity Test
Confirm your chickenpox immunity with confidence.
The Varicella Immunity Test is a straightforward blood test that determines whether you have protective antibodies against the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), the virus responsible for chickenpox and shingles. It is particularly useful for healthcare workers, teachers, childcare professionals, and anyone who needs to confirm immunity before commencing employment or training, as well as for individuals who are unsure whether they have had chickenpox in the past. The test uses enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to detect and measure specific antibodies in your blood.
The test screens for two key markers:
Varicella-Zoster Virus Antibodies
- Varicella-Zoster Virus IgG: Indicates past infection or vaccination, confirming protective immunity.
- Varicella-Zoster Virus IgM: Suggests a recent or current infection, helping to distinguish between acute infection and long-term immunity.
Why it matters
Knowing your varicella immunity status is important for personal and public health. If you are not immune, you may be at risk of contracting chickenpox, which can be more severe in adults and dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, and immunocompromised individuals. Confirming immunity can also satisfy occupational health requirements and give you peace of mind, especially if you work in environments where exposure risk is higher.

No special preparation required.
For blood tests, we recommend drinking plenty of water beforehand to ensure smooth sample collection. If you are taking any regular medication, continue to do so unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
