Viral Screen II is a confidential blood test that checks for four of the most common blood-borne and sexually transmitted viral infections: hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV, and syphilis. It is suitable for anyone who wants a clear picture of their infection status, whether you have no symptoms at all, have had a potential exposure, are starting a new relationship, or need routine screening as part of your sexual health care. The test is analysed using validated serological and antigen detection methods, including antibody and antigen assays, to identify current or past infection.
The panel covers the following markers:
Hepatitis B
- Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBs Ag): indicates current hepatitis B infection.
- Hepatitis B surface antibody (HBs Ab): shows immunity, either from vaccination or past infection.
Hepatitis C
- Hepatitis C antibody (HCV Ab): screens for exposure to the hepatitis C virus.
HIV
- HIV antibody and p24 antigen (HIV Ab + p24 Ag): combined fourth-generation assay for early and accurate detection of HIV infection.
Syphilis
- Syphilis antibody (Syphilis Ab): screens for exposure to the bacterium that causes syphilis.
All samples are collected by a trained phlebotomist using a simple blood sample, and results are reported confidentially with clear guidance on any next steps.

No special preparation required.
For blood tests, we recommend drinking plenty of water beforehand to ensure smooth sample collection. If you are taking any regular medication, continue to do so unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
